Paul Nagami joined the West Valley-Mission District to this district after five years teaching full-time at Holy Names University in Oakland. Prior to teaching there, he taught lab and lecture courses at Laney College and at San Francisco State University, where he earned an M.S. in Ecology and Systematic Biology.
His research focused on science education, and how people at different levels of expertise organize concepts based on biology principles
He has taught a range of courses, including chemistry and biology classes, but much of his focus has been on helping students who seek to enter health-related fields.
