Susan teaches all levels of English composition and literature classes at Mission College.  She is also Co-coordinator for the Basic Skills Initiative, and has led student educational tours to Greece and Turkey.

Before joining Mission in 2001, she taught at San Jose State University, Hartnell, City, and West Valley Colleges, as well as junior high and high schools.  She was a radio news anchor at KSOL Radio, television news producer at KSBW TV, public affairs writer/producer at KFRC Radio, and public information director at Planned Parenthood. She co-authored plays and performed in a professional children’s theatre and did freelance video and voiceover work.

Education

BA in English with a minor in German, University of Wisconsin Oshkosh with a year abroad at the University of Vienna Austria

MA in English Literature, San Jose State University with additional graduate study at the University of Wisconsin Madison and Eastern Michigan University in Munich, Germany

Fast Facts

Enjoys theatre, film, and travel.  Honored by the Board of Supervisors for her students’ contributions to Santa Clara County’’s First Group Poem published in 2009.
