SANTA CLARA, Calif.-- Mission College in collaboration with the Santa Clara Unified and East Side Union High School Districts will host 30 students in a virtual reality engineering summer camp for Latinx high school students July 6 to 10.
The virtual camp will include 15 students from ESUHSD and 15 students from SCUSD. It will be facilitated by Cal State East Bay engineering professor Dr. Fadi Castronovo.
Castronovo is the Director of the STEM Educational Gaming Research Group at CSUEB since 2016. He teaches both architecture and engineering in the East Bay. He received his doctorate in architectural engineering from Penn State. He received his Master’s from Technical University of Denmark.
Students will be given a VR headset and use their cell phones to engage in the activities.
The activities will focus on what an engineer does; engineering careers; creating 3D models with SketchUp software and learning about virtual and augmented reality.
The partnership is funded by the HSI-STEM Office.
